Spotlezz: a fresh take on cleaning and community
How Thirza Mac Donald founded Spotlezz at 18 and now keeps Floor Almere sparkling.

Cleaning isn't the first thing you think of when it comes to a vibrant workplace. But without it, there's no vibrant workplace. And if anyone understands that, it's Thirza Mac Donald.
Started at eighteen
Thirza started her entrepreneurial journey in 2021 with cleaning jobs in the neighborhood. What began as a one-person business grew in five years into a company with more than thirty employees and more than seventy clients. In 2024, she was nominated for the Windesheim Top Entrepreneur Award and for Company of the Year. Not luck, but the result of someone who knows what she wants and works hard for it.
"It's not about cleaning," says Thirza. "It's about the feeling you give someone when a space is fresh. That's what people remember."
Why Spotlezz fits at Floor
Floor is a building that runs on people. On community. On the belief that a workplace is more than four walls and Wi-Fi. Spotlezz fits seamlessly. Every morning, before the first tenants grab their coffee, Thirza's team makes sure every meeting room, every flex desk, and the Loungebar are shining. Whether it's The Boardroom where an important presentation is about to happen, or The Nest where a small team is brainstorming, the space is always ready for whatever the day brings.
That's not just hygiene. It's hospitality. It's the difference between a space that functions and a space that welcomes.
How the partnership began

This partnership didn't start with a cold pitch. It started through the network of Flevolandse Zakenvrouwen (Flevoland businesswomen), where Thirza met Astrid Molema and Rabia Kribbe of Deli Nomads, who guided her through the first steps toward Floor. "A simple meeting can show you where things can lead," Thirza said at the time. She even stopped by with a small thank-you gift for their guidance.
It's exactly the kind of story that defines Floor: not built through formal channels, but through people who find each other, build trust, and create something together.
Entrepreneurship with a fresh perspective
What sets Spotlezz apart isn't just the result, but the approach. Thirza thinks about sustainability, staff retention, professional growth. She invests in her team, chooses eco-friendly products deliberately, and steps in before issues escalate. She's 21 now, but thinks at a level well beyond her years.
At Floor, we believe young entrepreneurs need the city and the city needs young entrepreneurs. Thirza and Spotlezz are exactly the story we want to tell. Because it's about people who make a difference. And because it started in Almere, just like Floor.
